B-Band has designed a new dual input preamps that has a unique way of processing two sources called X-O-M (Cross-Over-Mix). The B-Band A2.2 is a new dual input / mono output onboard preamp with the
X-O-M circuit. For use with the UST and AST combination of transducers the A2.2 features volume and X-O-M mix controls that are mounted inside the guitar at the soundhole. The preamp box is mounted inside the guitar at the side or back and has input gain controls for the both UST and AST. The system is powered with a 9-volt battery. All mounting hardware, including an endpin output jack and hold-tight battery clip, are included.
Taking the UST and AST sources and applying XOM technology, B-Band engineers feel that the ideal sound for authentic acoustic reproduction comes from combining the high frequencies of the AST and broad low frequencies of the UST. Because XOM uses two transducers to sense the sound of the guitar from two different locations the sound is much more complex than a one pickup system and is more sonically accurate to the actual acoustic tone of the guitar. Another added benefit of the XOM technology is a high feedback threshold.
Like all B-Band pickup systems the heart of the sound comes from the company's patented Electret Film Technology. Electret film does not use Piezo crystals like other common pickups and you will hear the difference in the first time you strum the guitar, according to the company. Because the A2.2 only requires two holes to be drilled in the instrument, needs no special jigs to install the pickups and uses quick connectors, the system can be installed in 30 minutes or less.
