July 23, 2004

For many of the players that came out of the great guitar boom of the 1960s, the classic double cutaway Gretsch 6122 was the end-all of electric guitars. So big, so luxurious and yet so rocking. This summer, Gretsch recalls the vibe of that era with the introduction of the new G6122SP Country Classic Special guitar.

The new G6122SP is a reproduction of the 1963 Gretsch model, made famous by the Beatles' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. This instrument is a hollow body, Electrotone style double cutaway guitar with dual simulated "F" holes. It features an arched laminated maple top with laminated maple back and sides, a three piece maple neck and ebony fingerboard with Neo-Classical "Thumbnail" inlays.

The G6122SP offers two TV Jones Classic Pickups with a 3-position pickup selector toggle switch, a 3-position master tone toggle switch, Standby switch, two volume controls for the neck and bridge pickups and a master volume control.

The hardware includes a "Rocking" Bar Bridge on an ebony base, a Bigsby B6G vibrato tailpiece and Grover 150G Imperial machine heads. Additional features include a dual mute system, snap-on back pad, multiple body bindings, gold plexi pickguard and adjustable truss rod.

Available in Walnut Stain. US MSRP is $3,875.00.
