New at the Summer NAMM show is Sony's new Vegas+DVD Production Suite of software. The suite, which includes Vegas 5 software, DVD Architect 2 and a Dolby Digital AC-3 Encoder, features user-friendly tools capable of enhancing the quality of a music video or DVD demo. Sony Vegas 5 software, the latest version of the non-linear video and audio editing application, now offers increased functionality, more specialized features and its most extensive audio upgrade to date. With advanced, real-time scalable production for SD, HD, HDV and other formats across unlimited tracks, Vegas software is ready for DV, DVCAM and audio editing and encoding. "Today's recording artists are extremely aware of the increasingly vital part video needs to play in their careers," says Paul Foschino, senior manager, Sony Pro Audio Group. "Vegas 5 offers them the best integrated feature set for multimedia creation, editing and delivery: Complete multi-track audio AND multi-track video editing - all in one program. The fact that musicians using PC's for editing are coming from a multi-track audio background means they should have no trouble with the application for creating videos. In most cases they can be up and running in a relatively short period of time since Vegas' core technology and editing model is based on that of an audio multi-track program. "With the Vegas+DVD Production Suite, Sony offers a program that encompasses everything from 24-bit/192kHz multi-track audio editing, 5.1 mixing and external surface control, to HD support, 3D compositing and MPEG-2 encoding. This integrated platform provides a powerful music video production environment all in one application. Whether your final deliverables are DVDs, Red Book audio CDs or even streaming media formats for the Web,Vegas lets artists create multiple output formats for a wider array of enhanced distribution opportunities," Foschino concludes. New features in Vegas 5 include 3D track motion and compositing, subtitle/text export to DVD Architect software, ACID software loop properties support, keyboard event pitch shifting, 5.1 audio plug-in support at the master bus level, film-style 5.1 surround panning, downmix monitoring, external control surface support, envelope automation recording, customizable UI's and keyboard mapping. New features for DVD Architect 2 include programmable end actions, subtitle creation and multiple audio track support. Availability and Pricing The Sony Vegas+DVD Production Suite and Vegas 5 software are sold through Sony resellers, and are available immediately.
