NAMM: The Fender Blender Returns

In response to an overwhelming demand, Fender announced that it will reissue the classic Fender Blender Custom effect pedal.

This classic octave/fuzz pedal was initially available in 1968, and while production ceased in 1977, guitarists looking for aggressive, overly-harsh tones continued to use the Fender Blender to dial in their sound. Later, bands such as Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine turned to the Fender Blender to help pioneer the indie-rock scene of the 1990s, and with that, demand for vintage Fender Blender pedals took off.

The new Fender Blender Custom is a reissue of that classic octave/fuzz pedal, with modern extruded aluminum casing construction for added durability. Additionally, a true bypass circuit has been added, as well as a 9Volt AC jack and an improved access battery compartment.

As with the original, the new Fender Blender Custom features a Sustain Control that prolongs notes played through the pedal by increasing the output boost as the input signal fades. The Tone Control shifts the tone balance from low frequencies at "1" to high frequencies at "10", while the Blend Control manipulates the output ratio of unprocessed signal mixed with the Fender Blender processed signal.

Additional features include an On/Off switch, and a Tone Boost switch that enhances the equalization of the Tone control.

The new Fender Blender Custom pedal will ship this month. US MSRP is $199.99.
