Turbosound has announced the introduction of the
TA-500, wide dispersion loudspeaker, a significant new addition to the
award-winning Aspect(r) series of modular point source sound reinforcement
enclosures. The UK manufacturer, which is distributed in North America by
Sennheiser, has simultaneously introduced the TSB-118, a high efficiency
bandpass subwoofer designed for use with TA-500 Aspect enclosures, as well
as larger QLight™ models.
The TA-500 is a three-way, full-range (60Hz to 18kHz) enclosure that
incorporates patented Polyhorn™ designs to provide wider dispersion
characteristics of 50 degH x 25 degV, making it ideally suited to regional
and theatre tours and fixed installations. The speaker complement comprises
a Turbo-loaded 15-inch LF driver, a single 10-inch mid driver on a MF
Polyhorn and a single HF driver on an HF Polyhorn.
The similarity of the TA-500 driver complement with the longer-throw Aspect
TA-880 products results in similar voicing characteristics that allow easy
integration of these models in any venue. The TA-500 is initially available
in a fixed install/ground stacked variant, with additional models being
added to the range later in the year.
The introduction of the new TA-500 further highlights the flexibility of the
Aspect product range, which also encompasses TA-890 touring and TA-880 fixed
install variants plus high/mid and low/mid downfills, supported by double
15-inch TA-890L and double 18-inch TSW-218 bass cabinets.
The new TSB-118 single 18-inch bandpass subwoofer employs a single 600W RMS
18-inch driver in a bandpass designed enclosure and was developed both for
installation and portable sound use. Tuned to provide a frequency response
of 35Hz to 150Hz, the TSB-118 is a perfect compliment to Aspect and TCS
Series enclosures as well as larger QLight™ models such as the TQ-315 and
TQ-445. The cabinet comes with stacking feet and a pole holder as standard,
with an optional wheelboard for portable use. For more information, visit their web site at www.turbosound.com.
