PRESS RELEASE
Ibanez Expands Exotic Wood Instrument Offerings
July 28, 2007
Ibanez will unveil three new instruments in its Exotic Wood line of pure acoustic and acoustic-electric instruments at the 2007 NAMM musical instrument convention in Austin, Texas.
EWC30 Padauk "Mini"
The compact EWC30PDERLG acoustic-electric features a "mini-EW" body made of Padauk wood and a B-Band® UST pickup combined with the Ibanez SRTn preamp with notch filter and on-board tuner. The list price is $571.42.
EW20 Maple Burl Limited Edition
The EW20MBENT acoustic electric features standard sized maple burl body and also features a B-Band® UST pickup combined with the Ibanez SRTn preamp with notch filter and on-board tuner. This model is a limited edition and lists for $714.27.
EWB20 Fretless Bass In Spalted Maple
The EWB20SMFENT is the first Ibanez acoustic-electric fretless bass to be offered from the Ibanez Acoustic Division. The striking bass features a spalted maple body (a much sought after wood in high-end electric basses) and is equipped with a Fishman Sonicore® pickup combined with the Ibanez Shape Shifter pre-amp with on-board tuner. Unlike many acoustic-electric basses which feature a shorter scale, the EWB20's neck is the same 34" inch scale found on most electric basses, which provides tighter string tension for clearer articulation.
Exotic Wood Background
First introduced at the 2005 January NAMM Show in Anaheim, the Exotic Wood line featured woods not normally associated with affordably-priced instruments. It was an immediate hit and the line continues to be one of Ibanez's most successful offerings.
"Sound and playability are the two most important components in an instrument," said Irene Shvartsman of the Ibanez Acoustic Division. "However, the importance of the visual aspect cannot be denied. The appearance and sound of these unique instruments were designed for the player who is looking for a completely new and different voice. We don't think you'll find anything else quite like the EW guitars. If you do find something somewhat similar, you'll find that the price isn't even close. These are simply great—and very different—guitars at great prices."
