Ashdown Announces EVO Upgrade for ABM Bass Amps

January 19, 2001

Ashdown Engineering announces a significant specification upgrade for all Ashdown ABM "Bass Magnifier" heads and combos. Debuting at Winter NAMM 2001, the new Ashdown ABM EVO amplifiers will be on display at the HHB Booth #4268.

Already in use by major touring artists such as Radiohead's Colin Greenwood and U2's Adam Clayton among others, the new Ashdown ABM EVO amplifiers add a tuner mute LED to the front panel and a footswitching facility for the shape and EQ functions – both in direct response to requests from Ashdown players. Under the skin, the preamplifier circuitry has been completely redesigned for "silent switching'" and a new custom transformer improves further on the Ashdown's already low noise specifications.

All ABM EVO combos and cabinets are also now loaded with Ashdown BlueLine custom bass loudspeaker drivers. The BlueLines feature stiffer, thicker cones and oversized magnet assemblies to achieve the optimum balance of power, transparency and deep low-end response, without sacrificing essential mid-band attack and high-end brightness. Traditional speaker grilles are replaced with new heavy-duty steel mesh kick-proof grilles, with the old cloth versions still available by special order.

"Ashdown Bass Magnifiers have always been about providing serious players with the very best solution to their amplification needs," says Ashdown's Mark Gooday about the launch of the new ABM EVO series. "We have a continuing commitment to developing our amplifiers and the EVO upgrades ensure that Ashdown remains at the forefront."
