Digidesign Previews Pro Tools Internet Collaboration January 19, 2001Digidesign® today announced an upcoming version of Pro Tools®
that will enable worldwide internet collaboration in DigiStudios. The first collaboration
between Digidesign and its strategic partner, Rocket Network, DigiStudios are
virtual workplaces for online audio collaboration and production, accessible via
the Digidesign Production Network (DigiProNet.com).
DigiStudios will liberate producers and talent from the constraints of being
in one location to work together. To work in a DigiStudio, users will need the
upcoming version of DigiStudio-enabled Pro Tools, a free downloadable DigiStudioControl
client application, and a DigiStudio account via the DigiProNet web-site. Once
the studio is set-up, takes can be tracked and sent at the click of a button.
Contributors can upload both audio and midi track changes to a Pro Tools master
arrangement which then automatically updates and distributes new parts to other
studio participants.
Special presentations at Digidesign's NAMM Booth 6606 will take place from
Thursday-Saturday, January 18th-20th, Daily 1:00pm. Meredith Brooks, Singer-songwriter,
guitarist, and artist possesses both production savvy and creative flair as a
Pro Tools user. Currently working on her next album in the dual role of artist/producer
using Pro Tools, Meredith Brooks joins Digidesign to talk about production today,
and the revolution to come with DigiStudios.
DigiStudio-enabled Pro Tools will build upon the powerful functionality of
Pro Tools v5.1 software, so users will be able to exchange stereo and multi-channel
surround tracks* as well as mono tracks (in multiple file formats) over the Internet.
Pro Tools professionals will enjoy the richest interchange possible over the web
with other DigiStudio-enabled Pro Tools users, as well as collaboration with anyone
using a digital audio application with "Rocket Power". The communication
and navigation option of DigiStudioControl will allow collaborators to chat about
projects instantly. For more information, visit their web site at www.digidesign.com. |
