Pro Tools LE v.5.1 Now Available For Digi 001
and Digi Toolbox XP
January 19, 2001Digidesign® is pleased to release version 5.1 of Pro Tools®
LE software for their home and project studio solutions, Digi 001™ and Digi
Toolbox™ XP. Exciting new editing and mix innovations within Pro Tools LE
v.5.1 continue to make it the platform of choice for first time users, hobbyists,
and project studio owners. Both packages deliver the power and sophistication
of Pro Tools at affordable price to performance value.
Pro Tools LE v5.1 introduces integrated stereo tracks, enhanced MIDI functionality
as well as significant improvements to editing, mixing, navigation, and session
interchange.
Renowned for it's editing features, Pro Tools LE 5.1 gives even more flexibility
and ease-of-use. New stereo track support and collapsible hierarchical stereo
region display in the Regions List provide simplified management when editing
and mixing stereo audio data.
Continuing to expand the Pro Tools MIDI sequencer, version 5.1 includes a new
MIDI Event List window. The single window can be used for quick and precise input
and editing of all MIDI data. A unique "Insert Event at Playback Location,"
allows either notes or MIDI events to be added without a MIDI keyboard. Users
can quickly navigate and edit any event without having to touch the mouse. Additional
new MIDI features include individual MIDI track offsets and multi-device MIDI
recording.
The performance of Pro Tools LE mixing, already unparalleled for features,
quality and value, has also been enhanced: Each track now supports multiple output
assignments for simultaneous creation of multiple mixes. A new I/O Setup page
is included for flexible mono and stereo routing, with I/O setting files that
can be saved for import/export between sessions and other system configurations.
Version 5.1 also adds a duplicate track option that copies selected tracks with
all associated plug-in instances, settings and automation.
This new software version further increases the effects processing functionality
of Digi 001 and Digi Toolbox XP systems. Version 5.1 adds multiple plug-in window
displays for immediate on-screen access to any parameters. Now users can simultaneously
view, edit and automate their favorite RTAS Plug-Ins from Prosoniq, and more.
Other enhancements to plug-in editing include new drag and drop plug-in re-ordering
and duplication, plus individual plug-in automation 'safe' mode to prevent existing
automation data from being overwritten during automation write passes.
Pro Tools LE 5.1 includes many other significant new features, such as Multiple
Levels of Undo and automatic session saving at user defined intervals. Comp'ing
and auditioning takes becomes even more effortless as the Alternate Audio Playlist
switching and "matching start time" takes list now works on multiple
tracks, including groups, and selections. Navigation options have also been increased
with a new Tab to Transient feature - a single keystroke finds audio attack transients
in addition to edit boundaries. A new Zoom Toggle feature has been added for instant
magnified focus on an edit selection and automatic return to the original track
