PRESS RELEASE

Emagic and Mackie Team Up to Create Logic Control

January 24, 2001

Mackie Designs Inc and Emagic have joined forces to develop a family of state-of-the-art hardware controllers.

Following rigorous technical and procedural evaluation, the two companies agreed on an inaugural project: the creation of "Logic Control", a control surface for Emagic's Logic Audio software. In order to offer cost-effective software and hardware upgrades, Logic Control will be designed, configured and developed as a modular system.

The first product in the new "Logic Control" series of hardware will be a very competitively priced entry level version featuring; eight motorized touch sensitive faders, one touch sensitive master fader, eight mutes, eight solos, 8 rotary encoders, tape style transport, 2 XDR mic pre-amps, a data wheel, and an alps control pad. The unit is projected to ship in Q2. "Our customers expect professional products featuring high quality technology at affordable price levels" says Sven Junge, President and CEO of Emagic. "When we were looking for a controller solution for Logic Audio we concluded that it would be ideal for Emagic to team up with a company experienced in building high quality studio hardware at very competitive cost.

"Developing, manufacturing and marketing mixers and controllers is integral to Mackie's business. Joining forces with Emagic will give us immediate access to the needs of one of the biggest, most professional creative communities in the studio world" said Jamie Engen, CEO of Mackie. "Our goal is to build a very powerful, yet affordable, hardware controller for one of the most widely used audio production applications available today. By combining forces, Emagic and Mackie will be able to ensure that Logic Control will have absolute compatibility."
