January 20, 2001This January, Squier pushes the envelope with a new spin on a classic guitar design. The introduction of the Double Fat Tele Deluxe at this years winter NAMM show combines the vibe of the beloved Telecaster with Squiers own sleek, edgy styling and quality construction, and once again shatters all illusions of what a Squier guitar should be.
Following in the footsteps of Squiers recently introduced and very successful Stagemaster Series Strats, the Double Fat Tele Deluxe breaks away from the traditional and creates a class of its own with an all new attitude and modern features. For players who have come to know and love Squier brands standards of excellence, the new Double Fat Tele Deluxe is no different, yet its designed with todays more edgy guitarist in mind.
The carved mahogany body and set-in mahogany neck of the Double Fat Tele Deluxe are built for speed, and rivals the quality and playability of many guitars found at much higher prices. With its dual exposed coil humbucking pickups and beautiful metallic finish, this guitar appeals to the youth-driven hard rock oriented guitar market, while at the same time offering everybody an alternative to traditional Squier designs.
"This is perfect for guitarists who are on a budget and just simply want something new and different without sacrificing the value that defines Squier brand guitars," says Keith Brawley, vice president of strategic brands for FMIC. "Once seen and played, its clear that these guitars are in a league of their own. Theyre not expensive, but look, feel and sound as if they are."
Built to exacting Squier specifications in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Korea, the Double Fat Tele Deluxe is carved from a solid piece of mahogany and then fitted with a mahogany set-in neck that sports a rosewood fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets. Two exposed coil humbucking pickups are fitted along with black hardware and a choice of three beautiful metallic finishes: Black Metallic; Atlantic Blue Metallic; or Frost Red Metallic.
