DVD Option for Fostex's D2424
January 24, 2001 An optional DVD-RAM drive is available for the D2424 HD recorder. The 9046
DVD-RAM was developed to archive data from the primary drive without the need
for an outboard backup device.
The Fostex 9046 DVD-RAM can archive 4.7GB on each side of the disc for a total
capacity of 9.2GB. Recorded material on the primary hard drive can also be exported
to the DVD-RAM as a .WAV file when the unit is formatted to FAT 16 on a Windows
PC. Another benefit is the reduced media cost over external SCSI options. The
cost of the DVD-RAM is less than $10.00 per GB with the MSRP of $999.00.
"The DVD option is the best method of archiving with the D2424,"
says Phil Celia, Fostex Director of Sales and Marketing. "Every other option
is external and doesn't afford any advantage. With the DVD it's very easy to transfer
.WAV files back and forth. Theoretically, if you're using the D2424 as your primary
hardware tracking device and when it comes time to transfer material to a software
based program, all you need to do is swap a .WAV file to the DVD in the computer
system. It's just that simple." For more information, visit their web site at www.fostex.com. |
