January 24, 2001 Fostex is now offering a complete digital recording system, consisting of
the D2424 24bit/96kHz 24-track hard disk recorder, Hammerfall 24 digital 1/O card
and C-Console full function monitor / remote software.
"Bundling this package provides the professional with a complete digital
recording solution at a remarkably low price," says Phil Celia, Fostex Director
of Sales and Marketing. "Our research has shown that most of our D Series
recorders are being used in computer based systems, often syncing to external
software editing systems. With the D2424 Recording Bundle, a complete system is
achieved by offering a computer connectivity solution and a means to control the
recorder from the computer."
The D2424 recorder provides a number of high performance features and functions,
including 24-bit/96kHz record/reproduce and 128-times oversampling AD/DA. The
unit features 24 tracks with 32 virtual tracks for a total of 56 tracks.
By having the audio reside on the D2424 instead of the computer's hard drive,
CPU performance is substantially conserved. This allows an affordable software
package to be used as a computer based mixer. The Hammerfall sound card was chosen
to provide 24 track, 24-bit audio with real-time mixing and DSP effects. It's
unique design, by having 80% of the software burned directly in the card's EPROM,
achieves an industry latency breakthrough of 1.5 milliseconds. The card is also
fully compatible with all operating systems.
C-Console is a software-based, fully functional remote and system status controller.
Depending on the applications, C-Console has a wide variety of significant benefits
to current and future Fostex products. With C-Console, the D2424 can be located
anywhere in the world and still be controlled as if it was right in front of you.
Control is achieved using TCP/IP and can be done over a wired or wireless network
or over the Internet. With the voice recognition plug-in, the D2424 can be fully
controlled by voice commands. This feature also lends itself to live applications
