January 24, 2001Fostex recently announced the introduction of version V2.0 software for the
VF-16 multitracker. This software allows the user to connect to an outboard CD-ROM
burner.
"With this new software, users will have the ability to archive recordings
in real-time," says Phil Celia, Fostex Director of Marketing and Sales. "This
is a very cost-effective solution to backing up recorded material. CD burners
are inexpensive and have high storage capacity. Beginning in February all VF-16
multitrackers will come equipped with version V2.0. Current owners may simply
contact Fostex tech support and the program will be made available via a download
at no charge from www.fostex.com. A Zip drive is required to accommodate the transfer.
The file is 388KB and also contains a PDF supplemental manual."
Fostex's VF-16 provides 16 tracks (24 using FDMS-3 format) of non-compressed
16-bit, 44.1kHz CD quality recording with up to three hours of recording time
per Gigabyte. A standard E-IDE 3.5-inch hard drive is used for storage, which
can upgraded if larger capacity is required. Operating functions include COPY/PASTE,
MOVE/PASTE, ERASE and non-destructive editing with UNDO/REDO. SPDIF and ADAT I/Os
are included as well as external SCSI for backup. The unit also imports and exports
.WAV files. For more information, visit their web site at www.fostex.com. |
