January 22, 2001Since master luthier Lloyd Loar designed the first L5 in the days of Prohibition,
the L5 has remained the most sought after jazz guitar in the world.
Now, the Custom Shop has created a new version featuring a body profile that
is significantly smaller, while retaining all the same, great tonal characteristics
that made its grandfather famous and providing a more manageable feel.
The new L5 Signature maintains all of the L5's specifications, such as a maple
back, solid spruce top, seven ply binding on the top and three ply binding on
the back, nickel hardware, an ABR-1 bridge with a traditional L-5 tailpiece, two
OE57 Classic Humbuckers, two volume controls, and an ebony fingerboard with pearl
block inlays. The L5 Signature comes in Vintage Sunburst or Tangerine Burst finish. For more information, visit their web site at www.gibson.com. |
