Graph Tech Introduces Acousti-Cell PRO Preamp for F.A.A.S. Saddle Pickups January 18, 2001At this year's Winter NAMM Show, Graph Tech (booth 5015), introduced its new Acousti-Cell PRO stereo pre-amp designed for the F.A.A.S. (Fat Ass Acoustic Sound) pickup system for electric guitars and basses. The F.A.A.S. pickups generate a true acoustic guitar sound from most styles of electric guitars. By simply replacing the electric guitars saddles with the F.A.A.S. saddles and some minor wiring, most electric guitars can access a very realistic acoustic guitar tone with the flick of a switch and a myriad of blended sounds.
The Acousti-Cell PRO features active blend control for precise mixing of electric and acoustic signals without any signal loss. Also, if a mono guitar cable is plugged into the F.A.A.S. equipped guitar, both signals are routed the guitar amplifier, if a stereo cable is used, a separate acoustic signal is routed to another amplifier, such as a P.A. or an acoustic amp, while another acoustic signal can also be mixed with the magnetic signal and sent to the guitar amp at the same time.
The Acousti-Cell PRO has an onboard piezo volume control for balancing the piezo signal with the magnetic pickups. It also features a micro patch bay for solderless connections of added pre-amp controls, such as a magnetic pickup pre-amp bypass switch (in case of unexpected battery failure), access to a second acoustic EQ curve for a totally new acoustic tone, patching in of a three way switch for instant switching of sounds, and much more. Battery life is over 500 hours of use.
The Acousti-Cell PRO joins the original Acousti-Cell stereo pre-amp and both are designed for use with the F.A.A.S. pickup system. The F.A.A.S. pickup system saddles are available in over 25 models to fit most electric guitars.
Retail price of the Acousti-Cell Pro is $119.95 U.S.
