PRESS RELEASE

Marshall Unveils Valvestate 2000 AVT Series Amplifiers

January 18, 2001

Marshall Amplification announces the introduction of the Valvestate 2000 AVT (Advanced Valvestate Technology) series of amplifiers. Seven models and two cabinets comprise the new AVT Series of amplifiers: AVT275 Stereo Combo (2 x 75 Watts), AVT150H Head (150 Watt), AVT150 Combo (150 Watt), AVT100 Combo (100 Watt), AVT50H Head (50 Watt), AVT50 Combo (50 Watt), AVT20 Combo (20 Watt) and the AVT412A (angled front) and AVT412B (straight front) speaker cabinets.

When designing the new Valvestate AVT amplifiers, Marshall’s R & D engineers drew upon their 38 years of experience in amplifier design and the latest innovations in valve, solid-state and digital technologies. The result is a series of hybrid amplifiers that accurately emulate the feel and response of an all-valve amplifier—without using any valves in the power state. The heart of the AVT Series amplifiers is a newly designed power amp section featuring responsive, warm sounding circuitry. All AVT amplifiers employ Marshall’s proprietary Powervibe™ — a dynamic clip level technology that emulates an all-valve amp’s power supply section.

This power amp section is coupled with a specially voiced ECC83 (a.k.a. 12AX7) valve driven pre-amp section that provides 100% valve/analog warmth from input to output. Several models within the AVT Series also feature built-in digital effects (DFX) — each with 16 custom-voiced effects. The design of these effects eliminates the harsh-sounding, artificial ‘grain’ often associated with digital effects. In addition, all AVT Combo amplifiers feature closed back cabinets with specially voiced, extended bass response Celestion speakers, that deliver the bottom end sound that was once only achieved by employing a full 4 x 12 extension cabinet.

The new AVT Series features a more robust cabinet design with new roadworthy, reinforced corner caps and a heavy-duty, durable handle. Also featured are a large, newly designed control panel that’s easy to read whether the player is standing or sitting, plus stylish gold piping that provides a warm rich look.

The AVT275 Stereo Combo is Marshall’s top-of-the-line AVT amplifier. The AVT275 is a 2 x 75 Watt, 2 x 12" Combo featuring two independent DFX sections and 4 channels (Acoustic Emulation, Clean, OD1, and OD2). Overdrive 1 sounds range from a vintage sounding Plexi all the way to the JCM800 crunch. Overdrive 2 goes from a hot-rodded JCM800 all the way to a JCM2000. The Clean channel runs through the preamp valve and has a separate Bright switch plus controls for Bass, Middle & Treble. The Acoustic Emulation Channel features a Body Switch that enables the body resonance to change from a regular size acoustic to a Jumbo acoustic. Separate Gain & Volume controls as well as individual scoop controls (for thrash to crushing metal) are provided for the OD1 & OD2 channels. Additional features include: Master Volume & Master Presence controls, Parallel/Stereo FX loop, Emulated DI & Headphone output and a heavy-duty 6-way LED footswitch. Two custom designed Celestion 12" Extended Bass Response speakers complete the lineup of this flexible AVT combo.

The AVT150 is a 150 Watt, 1 x 12" Combo that has many of the same features as the AVT275. It offers 4 channels (Acoustic Emulation, Clean, OD1, OD2), two DFX sections (one for Acoustic/Clean, the other for OD1/OD2), separate Gain & Volume controls as well as individual scoop controls for the OD1 & OD2 channels. Also featured are Master Volume & Master Presence controls, Parallel FX loop, Emulated DI & Headphone output, heavy-duty 6-way LED footswitch and a custom-designed Celestion 12" Extended Bass Response speaker.

The AVT150H is a 150 Watt head featuring 4 channels (Acoustic Emulation, Clean, OD1, OD2) and two DFX sections (one for Acoustic/Clean, the other for OD1/OD2). The AVT150H has separate Gain & Volume controls as well as individual scoop controls for the OD1 & OD2 channels, Master Volume & Master Presence controls, Parallel FX loop, Emulated DI & Headphone output and a heavy-duty 6-way LED footswitch. The AVT150H Head was specially designed to drive the matching Marshall AVT412A (angled front) and AVT412B (straight front) speaker cabinets. Both cabinets are equipped with four custom-designed 12" Celestion speakers.

The AVT100 is a 100 Watt, 3 channel (Clean, OD1 and OD2), 1x12" Combo with a DFX section. The Clean channel runs through the preamp valve and has a separate Bright switch plus controls for Bass, Middle & Treble. Overdrive 1 sounds range from a vintage sounding Plexi all the way to the JCM800 crunch. Overdrive 2 goes from a hot-rodded JCM800 all the way to a JCM2000. Separate Gain & Volume controls are provided, plus scoop controls (OD1/OD2), Master Volume & Master Presence controls, Parallel FX loop, Emulated DI & Headphone output jacks and a heavy-duty 4-way LED footswitch. The ATV100 Combo features a custom designed Celestion 12" Extended Bass Response speaker.

The AVT50 is a 50 Watt, 1 x 12" combo with Reverb that features 2 independent foot switchable Channels (Clean and Overdrive), Accutronics spring reverb, Series FX loop, Emulated DI & Headphone outputs, CD input and a sturdy 1-way footswitch. The Clean channel sounds range from pristine clean tone all the way to the JCM800 crunch. It features controls for Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble.
