 Each NAMM show sees the release of dozens of wonderful sample CDs, but ...
well, it's always worth mentioning an Eric Persing product. The proprietor of
Spectrasonics and creator of past sample orgies Distorted Reality and Liquid
Grooves has done it again.
Metamorphosis is defined in Spectrasonics' literature as "a striking
alteration in character, condition, or function," which is a pretty good
description of what Persing does to a loop. This multi-disc set includes
hundreds of remix grooves ranging from airy, pulsing blobs to
woofer-wrenching club destroyers -- all available in five-digit increments at
tempos from 50-180 BPM.
Every groove is presented three ways: as a standard loop, construction-kit
style in tempo-matched "Groove Menus," and in a Groove Control version.
(Groove Control allows super-easy, independent control over loops' pitch and

sampler-specific discs plus a Mac/Windows CD with the Soundfinder auditioning
system and WAVE files of all the loops, or you can get just the loops on
audio CD.
