January 23, 2001The rich sound and gorgeous appearance of the Taylor 900 Series guitars has
always created a distinctive and dramatic impression. According to Bob Taylor,
these guitars, built of highest-quality Indian rosewood and master-grade Engelmann
spruce, have now been taken one step further in the direction of elegance, in
order to create "a simple, pretty, traditional, fancy guitar."
The overall look of the 900 Series has been updated; although still retaining
Taylor's distinctive, "bound" soundhole with abalone rosette, these
guitars no longer have an abalone extension around the fingerboard. The progressive
fingerboard inlay has been simplified, redesigned to be delicate and a bit "old-timey",
and this new inlay motive is echoed on the bridge and peghead of each instrument.
Tasteful new Ivoroid binding enhances the beauty of the tonewoods, and adds to
the "classic" feel of the 900 Series. New cutaway models with electronics
are now offered. For more information, visit their web site at www.taylorguitars.com. |
