Waves to Bring DSP Add-On Card to Yamaha's AW4416 January 31, 2001WAVES LTD. announced a partnership with
Yamaha Corporation of America, an established leader in digital audio, with the development of
the Y56K add-on DSP cards for the Yamaha AW4416 Professional Audio Workstation. The
cards will be loaded with six (6) of Waves proprietary audio processors, including the acclaimed
L1-Ultramaximizer, Renaissance EQ, Renaissance Compressor, TrueVerb, SuperTap 2-tap, and
DeEsser.
The Y56K cards are designed to plug into one or both of the 2 expansion slots on the back of
the AW4416, giving the user flexibility of assigning any of the Waves processors for up to 8
processing chains. Each card has 2 (two) 100MHz Motorola 56k-series DSPs providing
considerable raw power for the Waves processors. An additional benefit to the user is the
inclusion of ADAT Lightpipe input/output on each Waves card. Full automation through the
console is supported.

Combining powerful technological innovations from its successful digital products into one unit,
the Yamaha AW4416 is currently delivering. An optional front-mounted CD-RW drive, which
enables mastering as well as loading and/or backing up data, is available. The AW4416
contains full 32-bit DSP capabilities (similar to the Yamaha 02R digital console), 44
fully-automated audio inputs, 17 motorized faders, four fader and mute groups, eight bus and
eight aux sends plus stereo, and stereo cue busses. An integrated 16-track recording
system-complete with sampling, editing and mastering capabilities-retains true 24-bit, 48 kHz
resolution without compression of any kind. Two 32-bit on-board effects may be routed to any
bus or input channel include scene, channel, EQ, dynamics and effects. Storage options include
an internal hard drive and CD recorder and a SCSI interface for data backup to an external
drive. The AW4416's FLASH ROM operating system enables software upgrades to be loaded
