January 23, 2001Yamaha Corporation of America announces the expansion of its guitar starter
kit product line by offering the GigMaker Electric, the first ever Yamaha electric
guitar package for beginners. The kit includes all the essentials: a Yamaha ERG121BL
electric guitar, Yamaha GA10 10-watt amp, and a Yamaha YT150 (Guitar/Bass Auto
Tuner)plus a gig bag, strap, strings, string-winder and picks.
As David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo
Division notes, this package answers the needs of both retailer and customer.
"Dealers have wondered why we haven't participated in this segment, given
the huge success of our GigMaker Acoustic and Classic kitsand now we are.
It should be a welcomed option!"
The key to the value is the high-performance/low-cost guitar and amp. The ERG121U
offers the styling of the successful Yamaha RGX, with a solid Basswood body, Maple
neck, vintage-style tremolo and chrome tuners. It features a trio of pickups:
humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, and a mid-position single-coil. The
guitar is available with a black finish.
The 10-watt GA10 amp boasts two switchable channels, with treble, mid, and
bass tone controls, and a 6-inch speaker. Throw in the tuner and the starter pack
of accessories, and buying that first electric guitar becomes a simple decision.
Young players get the features they wantand parents get the quality they
can trust.
"This package is great for kids just starting to play without hurting
Mom and Dad's wallet," states Gary Cook, product manager, Yamaha Guitars.
"Getting started with a great guitar has never been easier." GigMaker
Electric packages will be available in Spring 2001.
