Alesis Studio Electronics introduces airSynth(tm)- the latest addition to Alesis' unique line of motion-sensitive sound devices. A follow-up to the popular Alesis airFX, the Alesis airSynth is scheduled to ship in the spring of this year with a list price of $249. AirSynth is Alesis' second innovative product to incorporate Alesis Semiconductor's revolutionary new patent-pending Axyz(tm) (pronounced ax-is) technology. A table-top product, airSynth produces dramatic synthesized sounds and sound effects when the user passes his hand over the invisible 3D sphere above the product. Infrared Axyz technology allows the user to control up to five sound variables simultaneously by moving his hand left to right, forward and backward, or up and down over the product, making airSynth very easy and intuitive to use. The dramatic soundset and unique user interface make airSynth ideal for use in live performances, DJ applications, music and post production, and on-air broadcast applications. While airSynth employs the same technology and simple user interface that made the airFX an instant hit, it comes with its own unique twist. Unlike the effects-processing airFX, the new Alesis airSynth is a true sound generating product that features a broad range of sound effects and synthesized noises providing an altogether different and complimentary range of options. The unique airSynth sound-set includes 50 staccato, percussive, legato continuous pads, drum sounds and sounds that emulate things in nature. The simple user "third eye" consists of a single knob, which is used to select, engage, bypass, freeze and release a given sound, and an LED that indicates the current program. "Playing" airSynth involves pressing the knob to engage the effect and then moving a hand through the invisible infrared sphere to create sounds. Incorporating the same futuristic design as airFX, airSynth can be integrated with airFX in a singular system via stereo RCA inputs and outputs without using an external mixer. airSynth features a frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz, 24-bit converters and ships with a 9-volt DC external power supply. A threaded socked on the base of the unit allows users to mount the airSynth on a microphone stand for ease-of-use in club and studio applications. "AirSynth and the recently introduced airFX are some of the first releases to utilize our new technology, which allows us to bring exciting break-out products to the market," states Jim Mack, Alesis Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Alesis is redefining the way we create music. These products make it easy and fun for anyone to participate in music-making." For more information, visit their web site at http://www.alesis.com/.
