New E-mu Sound Modules Go Turbo

Advertisement E-MU / ENSONIQ has announced the Turbo Phatt and XL-1 Turbo sound modules, each featuring 128 note polyphony, 6 assignable audio outputs, 32MB of ROM, 3 additional ROM expansion slots, digital output, and 12 real time assignable front panel controllers. The XL-1 Turbo is available in January, and the Turbo Phatt will ship in March. Each has a US retail price of $1,295. Expanded Power for performers, producers, and composers of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Urban dance music. Following up the success of the legendary Planet Phatt & Mo'Phatt sound modules, the Turbo Phatt offers performers, producers, and composers of Hip Hop, R&B, and Urban dance music styles additional polyphony, digital I/O, and the ability to route individual sounds to any of six independent audio outputs. Users can add any of the current family of 11 E-MU® expansion ROM's or utilize any E4 Ultra sampler to create custom ROM's of their own, and fill up the three additional internal expansion slots for a total of 128MB of onboard sounds. Expanded Power for performers, producers, and composers of Techno and Euro dance music Following up the success of the Audity® 2000 and XL-1 sound modules, the XL-1 Turbo offers techno style music performers, producers, and composers additional polyphony, digital I/O, and the ability to route individual sounds to any of six independent audio outputs. Users can add any of the family of 11 E-MU expansion ROM's or create a custom ROM of their own, and fill up the three internal expansion slots for a total of 128MB of onboard ROM. "Super Beats" Mode Super Beats mode consists of 100 multi layered sequences that users can interact with to create one-of-a-kind performances. By manipulating the front panel, real-time controller knobs, different aspects of a groove or rhythm pattern can be accentuated or muted. Also, different instrumental parts can be added to the sequence while envelopes, filter sweeps and even transpositions of different instruments can all take place in real time, creating dense layers of music. All of this information is sent out through the MIDI output and can be recorded by an external sequencer.
