New Rancher Jr. Added to Gretsch's Historic Series

The Gretsch Guitar Company introduced the Gretsch Rancher Jr. as its newest addition to their popular Historic Series line of guitars at the January 2001 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. The new Rancher Jr., a small jumbo acoustic guitar, is an excellent choice for players who want a pleasant, full tone in a smaller size than a dreadnought or jumbo model. This guitar’s headstock features a pearl steerhead inlay and pearl Gretsch logo, aged white binding, and chrome diecast tuners. The neck is maple, fixed-type, with a rosewood fingerboard, thumbnail position markers, aged white binding, a 24 1/4 inch scale, 20 nickel silver frets, and a Historic Series truss rod cover. The 15 inch-wide small jumbo sized body has a round cutaway, solid Sitka Spruce top with mahogany sides and back, bound triangular French soundhole, triple aged white binding top and back, and is finished in Gretsch orange. Other features include a rosewood Gretsch pin bridge, D’Addario bronze J16 strings, and Gretsch pickguard with etched steerhead design. In addition, a Fishman pickup is mounted under the bridge saddle and the onboard control panel allows fine tuning of volume, high, mid, and bass frequencies. Modeled after the fine guitars manufactured by the Gretsch Company from the 1920s through the 1950s, the Gretsch Historic Series line consists of six acoustic styles—the Hawaiian, Grand Concert, Dreadnought, Sierra Jumbo, Synchromatic, and Resonator. Many of these models are equipped with the world-class Fishman acoustic pickup system. Three archtop acoustic electric Synchromatic models round out the line along with the hollowbody electric Streamliner guitars and Jet Mainliner lap steel.
