Rockabilly Legend Eddie Cochran Remembered with G6120W-1957 Model

As one of the newest additions to their professional line of guitars in 2001, the Gretsch Guitar Company will introduce the G6120W-1957 model hollow body electric guitar at the Winter NAMM show in Ahaheim. The G6120W-1957 reproduces the look and distinctive sound of early rock legend Eddie Cochran’s model 6120 guitar. Cochran was one of rock’s first guitar heroes and Gretsch’s first rock ’n’ roll star. Many of Cochran’s singles, such as the classic "Summertime Blues", included That Great Gretsch Sound. Cochran, whose promising career was tragically cut short as a result of a fatal automobile accident, was memorialized in two Hollywood rock films in the 1950s, The Girl Can’t Help It and Go, Johnny, Go. This beautiful single-cutaway guitar features an arched maple top and maple sides and back. The body and oversized f-holes are bound with multiple white and white/black bindings. Joining the body at the 14th fret, the rock maple neck features an ebony fingerboard with Western motif engraved block inlays, and 22 frets. Electronics include one P-90 neck pickup and 1 DynaSonic bridge pickup, a pickup selector switch, master volume and master tone controls, and two volume controls. Also featured is a polished aluminum Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. A transparent Gretsch pickguard with "Nashville" signpost adds a finishing touch along with the classic "G" brand on the guitar’s lower left bout. The Gretsch family has been making fine musical instruments since 1883, and is in their fourth generation of family ownership and their third century of instrument manufacturing.
