January 20, 2001
Advertisement Roland Corporation U.S. is proud to announce new software updates for several V-Studio and V-Mixing products* that allow the COSM Speaker Modeling algorithmpreviously compatible with the DS-90A 24-bit Digital Reference Monitorsto also work with the companys smaller, more affordable DS-50A 24-bit Digital Reference Monitors introduced last year. COSM Speaker Modeling is a proprietary technology that enables select Roland V-Studios and V-Mixers to model the characteristics of popular monitor speakersfrom high-end reference monitors to "white coned" standards and TV/boombox simulations. This makes it possible to check the accuracy of mixes across a wide range of listening environments using a single pair of speakers. Previously, these algorithms were only compatible with Rolands DS-90A monitors, but with this new softwareavailable via free download from the Roland corporate website located at www.rolandus.comCOSM Speaker Modeling is now compatible with the new DS-50A monitors as well. Now even more musicians can take advantage of this extraordinary mixing tool, whether using the affordable DS-50As or the flagship DS-90As. *COSM Speaker Modeling updates available for VS-1880, VS-1680, VS-890, VS-880EX, VS-840/840GX/EX and VM-7000 Series/VM-3100Pro V-Mixers.
