The Lars Ulrich bell brass model features the expected 3mm shell, but with an unexpected Scorched Earth finish and zinc die-cast hoops instead of the standard bell brass hoops. The LU1465BB lists for $2399.99. The second Lars Ulrich model is far less expensive, but just as unique visually and sonically-the LU1465 is made out 3mm diamond plate steel which produces a loud and deep tone similar to bell brass. The LU1465 lists for $749.99 Both the Lars Ulrich bell brass and Lars Ulrich diamond plate steel snare drums feature 6 1/2" by 14" shells.
Tama Signature Palette Snare Catalogue CopyWhen it comes to the icons of heavy music, Lars Ulrich is among the most revered in the genre a genre which he and his band almost single-handedly created. Metallica's marriage of powerful British metal to punk's chaotic energy produced a raw power that rock hadn't experienced in years. And at the center of it all was the band's founder, drummer Lars Ulrich. A devout Tama player even before Tama achieved prominence, Lars was one of the very first players to harness the power of Tama's now legendary bell brass snare drum. That was because Tama's bell brass was the only drum that could handle the incredible sound pressure levels. In a sonic environment like Metallica, you have to have a drum capable of splitting skulls with a single whack. Metallica has evolved over the years, as have Lars' drumming and his drum set, but his bell brass snare remains a constant. While Tama's current, standard bell brass comes equipped with bell brass hoops, Lars' LU1465BB signature model features hoops of die-cast zinc hoops for even more low-end. The latest addition to Lars' arsenal is the LU146, a solid 3 mm slab of diamond plated steel precision rolled into a 6 x 14" shell. This drum may be even louder and more throaty than a bell brass drums. Louder or not, the LU1465 is the right vehicle for Lars' next musical explorations with Metallica.
