Tassman Software Synth 3.0 for Mac and PC Previewed

The power of physical modeling and modularity

January 26, 2002

The Montreal based company, Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS), announced the eminent release of the Tassman 3.0, the award winning modular software synthesizer, based on physical modeling, for Windows PC and the highly anticipated introduction of the Tassman for Mac OS. Version 3.0 also adds DirectConnect and MAS to the list of supported plug-in standards which already includes DXi and VST.

Complete with an optimized core processing engine, the Tassman 3.0 offers a wide array of new features, and pushes the envelope of AAS's physical modeling technology to new heights. " Physical modeling has the unique potential of providing musicians with an acurate replication of virtually any instrument they can imagine" said Marc-Pierre Verge, CEO of Applied Acoustics Systems. "Our goal has always been to provide this technology to musicians in an user friendly manner, without comprimising any of the awesome potential it offers, version 3.0 is a testament to that."

The Tassman comes with hundreds of prepatched synths and presets. The powerful physical modeling technology used allows for the construction of realistic acoustics strings and percussions, accurate recreations of classic analog synthesizers with true analog warmth, and completely unique hybrid instruments. The modular nature of the Tassman also means that users may customize any of the included synths down to the finest detail, or build there own instruments from the ground up.

With the success of the Tassman as a DXi in Cakewalk's SONAR XL, as well as a VST and standalone instrument for the PC, AAS is proud to make the Tassman's sound design abilities available to Mac users. " The Mac version has been our top priority for some time now." said Verge " Our DXi and VST users have played an integral role in the Tassman's development over the last year, and we are happy to be able to welcome musicians on the Mac platform into this dynamic community." The Tassman for Mac will integrate perfectly into many of the industry's most popular sequencing environments, through the MAS and DirectConnect plug-in standards.

The Tassman 3.0 will be available in the second quarter of 2002, at a suggested retail price of $299 US, and as a free upgrade to registered users. The software functions on Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME and XP, as well as Mac OS 9.2 and above.
