New Ashdown ABM "MINI" Bass Cabinets

ABM MINI 48
January 19, 2002

It's been a big year for Ashdown Engineering's ABM range, with the British-built bass amplification appearing on the concert stages of acts as diverse as U2, The Who, Jamiroquai, Jennifer Lopez and Lenny Kravitz. Now the manufacturer launches four new compact bass cabinets at Winter NAMM 2002.

All four identically sized ABM MINI bass cabinets feature Ashdown's proprietary BlueLine speakers for enhanced attack and clarity, and extended low-end response. As the name implies, the ABM MINI 10T combines a single 10" driver with a tweeter resulting in a bright, focussed sound that really cuts through. The MINI 12T with its 12" BlueLine driver and tweeter has a very sweet midrange and a surprisingly extended bottom end, making it ideal for upright and fretless bass players while the MINI15 uses a single 15" speaker in a rear ported cabinet design to deliver a staggering low-end performance from a cabinet of such diminutive proportions.

Described by Ashdown Engineering's Mark Gooday as "The best cabinet I've ever designed", the MINI 48 squeezes 4 BlueLine into a tiny, rear-ported cabinet. The small cone size makes the MINI 48 incredibly fast and percussive, while the high density of drivers moves a lot of air, handling 5 string basses with no problem. Best of all, the high end is so pure and sweet that the addition of a horn or tweeter is simply not necessary. And all this from a cabinet measuring just less than 20 x 19 inches.

The ABM MINI cabinets join an Ashdown ABM bass amplification range that already includes a rack-mounting preamp, power amp and amp head, three further amp heads, six combos and six cabinets.
