SuperFreq EQ Plug-In Includes Native OS X Operation

10-band paragraphic EQ works with any Carbonized VST host application

January 26, 2002

BIAS Inc. introduced SuperFreq, a 10-band parametric graphic equalizer. SuperFreq is one of the first Mac OS X-native VST plug-ins, and works within any Carbonized VST host application - such as BIAS Peak 3, Peak LE 3, or Deck 3.5; it also works under Mac OS 8.5 through 9.2.x.

As a true Carbon Event-driven OS X plug-in, SuperFreq's controls are fast and smooth; it also sports OS X's distinctive "Aqua" interface (a high-tech brushed metal interface is used under OS 9). SuperFreq includes everything for professional-caliber equalization, including -18dB to +18dB Gain Values; 0.1 to 30 "Q" (bandwidth) values; sweepable frequencies from 20Hz to 20kHz, individual band bypass buttons; 24dB stereo input/output meters; and filters including Peak, Notch, High Shelf, Low Shelf, High Cut, and Low Cut. Optionally, SuperFreq can be launched as an 8-band paragraphic EQ, rather than the standard 10-band.

BIAS Freq, a 4-band version of SuperFreq, is bundled free with Peak 3, the highly-acclaimed digital audio editing/processing/mastering application from BIAS. Freq is similar to SuperFreq, except that it is limited to 4-bands; offers only Peak, Notch, High Shelf, and Low Shelf filters; and the Q range is limited to a value of 10. Special upgrade pricing to SuperFreq is available for BIAS Peak 3 owners.

"There's a real need for high-quality OS X-compatible plug-ins right now, and we're very proud to be leading the market with the release of BIAS SuperFreq and Freq," said Jason Davies, VP Worldwide Sales for BIAS. "Both plug-ins look great, but more importantly, they sound incredibly good. In particular, we expect that mastering engineers and other professionals who demand nothing but the best - many of whom already depend upon Peak - will be especially impressed with SuperFreq's capabilities."

Availability and Pricing

SuperFreq is available now as a download-only product from the BIAS Website for US $79. Upgrades from Freq (included with BIAS Peak 3) are only US $49.
