First Powered Mixer by Behringer Debuts at NAMM

January 21, 2002

With the all-new EUROPOWER PMX2000 (price tba), BEHRINGER introduces its very first powered mixer. This 10-channel powered mixer with a 2 x 250-Watt stereo power amp and built-in 24-bit stereo effects unit represents a compact yet powerful all-in-one mixing system for rehearsal rooms, small club gigs or solo performances, which can easily be expanded to a complete PA setup with the addition of external speaker cabinets and/or power amps.

The PMX2000 provides six mono channels with ULN (Ultra Low-Noise) mic/line preamps with peak LED's, -25dB pad and switchable phantom power plus an effective 3-band EQ, internal effects send and monitor send. Three of the four additional stereo channels offer the same mic/line preamp, EQ and sends, while the fourth is configured for tape, CD or MD players with stereo RCA inputs and recording outputs.

The flexible master section sports two 9-band graphic equalizers which can either be assigned to the left and right main mix or to the main mix and monitor out. The graphic EQ is augmented by a switchable low-cut filter for channels 1-6; both graphic EQ's feature an in/out switch for quick comparisons or bypassing. A pair of power amp inputs enable connection of external mixers or sound sources, while three preamp outputs offer additional flexibility. The main and monitor sections of the PMX2000 each feature individual level controls plus a 5-segment LED level meter and master effects send level control. An integrated limiter protects against signal speaker overloads.

The power mixer's built-in effects unit is based on BEHRINGER's VIRTUALIZER PRO and MODULIZER PRO multieffects processors and provides 99 presets with a wide selection of standard reverb and delay plus more unusual algorithms like Vinylizer, Magic Pitch and Vocal Distortion, to name but a few.

The PMX2000 also features a rugged enclosure with tough vinyl covering, high-impact protective corners and a practical handle.
