Boss Debuts OD-20 Drive Zone22 Overdrive/Distortion Pedals Right Beneath Your Feet January 18, 2002
BOSS announced the OD-20 Drive Zone. This new programmable Twin pedal uses advanced COSM technology to model the sound of classic overdrive/distortion pedals from the past 30 years--and it's also got brand-new sounds of its own.
Thanks to COSM technology, the OD-20 recreates some of the most popular overdrive/distortion stompboxes in history, including the BOSS OD-1, DS-1 and MT-2, as well as an assortment of other vintage and modern pedals. There are 22 classic pedal models altogether, including six new overdrive and distortion sounds that range from mellow crunch to bottom-heavy distortion and screaming metal.
The Attack Shape knob precisely matches the overdrive model's response to a player's style; so when a guitarist digs in, so does the OD-20. The Heavy Octave control can add a low octave to any note played below the fourth fret of the fourth string--perfect for heavy single-string riffs that emulate the thick 7-string sound of modern rock. An Amp Control jack even lets players remotely switch amp channels to match the overdrive sounds being selected.
The OD-20 has four user memory locations for storing setups. And the pedal's Line output has its own Amp Simulator that can also serve as a handy headphone output.
