Crate Audio Announces PE Series Enclosures

These PE Series enclosures are entirely new for 2002 and are the perfect compliment for higher power systems, higher volume pre-recorded, live music applications and larger venues. Each of the speakers in the new PE Series features a 1" Titanium driver coupled with a long-throw horn, and a High-Power Crate Audio driver with a beefy magnet structure for higher power handling and excellent bass response.
Every PE speaker features a 12dB per octave Linkwitz-Riley crossover. This circuit design protects the high-frequency component from voltage spikes and potential damage, and also blends the frequencies between the two components for a very smooth response curve. The large 6" x 13.25" horn features a 90° x 60°dispersion pattern for extremely broad coverage and balanced sound even in large rooms.
These enclosures easily handle vocal applications with light pre-recorded music, but also stand-up to higher power applications which include more aggressive pre-recorded or live music with bass, drums and keyboards. They have a slightly colored response curve which includes a 6dB cut at 2K which warms up the tone, but still makes the enclosure easy to EQ.
The trapezoid cabinets are manufactured using a high-density composite for minimum low frequency loss, and are covered in a black carpet material with integrated handles and dual 1/4" jacks. They also include an integrated 1.39" stand mount for use with standard speaker stands.
The PE Series all feature reinforced bar handles. The metal corners and heavy-duty 18 gauge metal hex pattern grille provide superior protection to the components and the enclosure between performances.
The PE Series enclosures have been specifically designed to meet Crate Audio standards including extensive time-alignment and TEF testing.
