February 1, 2002

Celebrating their 30th anniversary and the shipment of the 50,000th Proteus 2000 product, E-MU has announced the release of the Proteus 1000 sound module. The Proteus 1000 is a 64-voice version of the Proteus 2000 module that was first introduced in October 1998.

Proteus 1000 Hits New Price Point

"The Proteus 1000's $795 retail price and expected street price of $599 will put the powerful Proteus sound engine within reach of new, budget-minded customers," said Scott Emmerman, VP of Sales and Marketing, Americas. "Until now, the acclaimed Proteus "Composer" sound set had been available only in the Proteus 2000 and 2500 sound modules. With the release of the Proteus 1000, this sound set is now available in an affordably priced product that should prove to be a very popular entry level, yet still professional, sound module."

The Proteus 1000 features 64 voices of polyphony, 32 MB of ROM containing 1024 presets (user expandable to 64 MB, utilizing any of the eleven 32 MB Proteus expansion ROMs), stereo 24-bit audio outputs, dual stereo 24-bit effects processors, and 4 real-time controller knobs assignable to 12 parameters.

Proteus Legacy

To date, E-MU has shipped over 50,000 Proteus 2000 products, making it one of the best selling sound modules of all time. Composers, performers and producers around the globe have utilized the Proteus 2000 on many award-winning songs, commercials and film scores, and it has become the standard of excellence in the world of sound modules. "The Proteus 1000 has all the great sound quality of its big brother, and the new $599 price point makes it affordable for those musicians who have always dreamed of owning a Proteus," remarks Sean Wilhemsen, Director of Product Development. "What a great way to celebrate E-MU's 30th birthday!"
