ESI Debuts New 96kHz Audio Interfaces January 29, 2002
ESI announced the addition of the Waveterminal 96X and 96L to its 96 Series of PCI-based multichannel audio interfaces. These 2 cards offer high quality 24-bit/96kHz performance and start at an affordable $199(US) MSRP.
The Waveterminal 96L ($199) is a 2-in/8-out PCI card featuring 24-bit/96kHz A/D converters and 24-bit/96kHz D/A converters with 106 dB of dynamic range. Features include stereo S/PIDF out, full duplex (simultaneous record/playback) capability, multiple sample rate support from 32kHz up to 96kHz, and a headphone amp output. The addition of an optional daughter card expands the 96L's capabilities to include a S/PDIF optical input and coaxial I/O along with a 1-in/1-out, 16 channel MIDI interface. The Waveterminal 96X ($249) is also a half-length PCI card with 24-bit/96kHz A/D and D/A but includes a breakout box that hosts 4 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs. Standard features include 2 mono mic preamps with 12VDC phantom power, 2 headphone amp outputs, 24-bit/192kHz S/PDIF coaxial digital I/O, a 1-in/1-out 16 channel MIDI interface and full duplex capability.
The Waveterminal 96X and 96L both support ESI's unique E-WDM driver for compatibility with Windows XP, 2000, ME, and 98SE offering low-latency performance with digital audio applications such as Nuendo, Cubase, Gigastudio, Cakewalk, Sonar and Logic.
The ESI Waveterminal 96X and 96L are slated to begin deliveries in January 2002.
