Compact GA-30 and CA-30 Tuners from Korg

GA-30 Guitar/Bass Chromatic Tuner features world's first "Quinta Flat" tuning feature; CA-30 Chromatic Tuner allows pitch adjustment of a major/minor third for creating harmonies

January 17, 2002

Korg introduces the new GA-30 Guitar/Bass and CA-30 Chromatic tuners. These compact, easy-to-use tuners offer a broad detection range, precise tuning capability and unique features, at competitive prices.

The GA-30 is a 12-note, equal-tempered tuner that features Guitar and Bass tuning modes, plus additional reference tones (Low-B for guitar; Low-B and Hi-C for bass) to support tuning for 7-string guitars and 6-string basses. It provides a wide detection range of B0 (23.12Hz) to B6 (1975.54Hz), and is the world's first tuner with a "Quinta Flat" mode that allows up to five semitones of flat tuning, for use with baritone guitars (guitars with longer than normal scale length) and today's heavy metal styles.

Equipped with a precise and easy-to-read needle-style LCD meter and a built-in speaker, the GA-30 features:

  • Tuning accuracy of ±1 cent and sound accuracy of ±1.5 cents
  • Built-in mic for acoustic instruments
  • Battery life of approximately 100 hours
  • Compact size, only 4.1"(W), 2.52"(D), and 0.6"(H)
  • Light weight, a mere 2.86 oz. with batteries.

Like the GA-30, the CA-30 Chromatic Tuner is a 12-note, equal-tempered tuner. It provides a wide array of features, including reference tones from C4 (261.33Hz) to C5 (523.25Hz), and an expansive detection range of C1 (32.70Hz) to C8 (4186.01Hz). It quickly determines the note name and range for virtually any musical instrument in any situation. Featuring Meter (auto) and Sound (manual) tuning modes, the CA-30 can be calibrated from 410 to 480Hz in 1Hz steps.

For wind instruments, convenient markings on the CA-30's display enable the user to slightly adjust the pitch of a major or minor third relative to the equal-tempered third to create harmonies that sound more in tune to the ear.

The CA-30 features:

  • Tuning accuracy of ±1 cent and sound accuracy of ±1.5 cent.
  • High-sensitivity acoustic mic for tuning acoustic instruments
  • Extended battery life of approximately 100 hours
  • The same compact dimensions and weight as the GA-30

The GA-30 Guitar/Bass tuner has an MSRP of $24.95 and the CA-30 Chromatic tuner has an MSRP of $34.95. Both are available immediately.
