Pandora PX4 Debuts at Winter NAMM 2002

New personal processor features REMS modeling technology, effects, rhythms, analog controls & more

January 18, 2002

The new Pandora PX4 Personal Multi Effect Processor provides guitarists with the practice and performance tools they need to expand their sonic palette, all in a compact, easy to use unit. The latest evolution in the popular Pandora line, the feature-rich PX4 incorporates Korg's exclusive REMS (Resonant Electronic Modeling System) technology, realistic PCM rhythm and bass patterns, a Phrase Trainer, and a knob-based user interface for easy, intuitive editing.

The PX4 provides 124 effects including high-end tube and vintage amp models, plus an assortment of popular speaker cabinet models. It also features single coil, humbucking and acoustic guitar modeling, as well as unique effects such as "Talking Guitar," Virtual Feedbacker, Synth sounds and Rotary modeling. In addition, an intelligent pitch shifter can be used to automatically create harmonies. Up to seven kinds of effects can be used simultaneously to create new sounds, and 100 programs (50 preset/50 user) are available for immediate use.

Other PX4 features include 40 rhythm and bass patterns with realistic PCM sounds covering styles such as rock, funk, blues, dance music and more. The unit's sophisticated Phrase Trainer allows up to 30 seconds of sound to be recorded from a CD player or other audio source, then played back as a loop for repeated listening or practice. The speed can be slowed down without affecting the pitch, making it easy to learn difficult or rapidly played phrases. In the Phrase Trainer mode, users can record any of the built-in rhythm sounds and their guitar simultaneously, then practice soloing over the recorded phrase.

The PX4 is designed for ease of use with traditional analog-style knobs that provide direct control over key functions such as amplifier selection, gain, treble, bass, effects types and parameter values. An infrared transmitter allows the use of optional infrared wireless headphones. Other features include an AUX IN for playing along with external music sources; a built-in Korg Auto Chromatic tuner with mute function; a Key Transpose function; and semi-transparent backlit LCD for exceptional visibility. The LCD also features "Mode Icons" that light up to indicate when the user is in AUX, Pitch, Phrase Trainer or Rhythm and Bass modes.

The PX4 is available February 2002, with a suggested list price of $250.
