M-Audio Introduces Tamps Mic Pre with Temporal Harmonic Alignment January 26, 2002 Tube gear is known for its excellent midrange. Solid state gear in known for its solid bass. The reason for this typical character:in each case the phase of the overtones relative to the fundamental is optimal at the frequencies where the gear is at its best. The Tampa uses a unique process that actually adjusts to an optimal location the temporal position of all harmonics across the spectrum. Where a tube device does a decent job positioning harmonic phase in the mids alone (resulting in a great sound in that area), Temporal Harmonic Alignment creates harmonic phase across the entire spectrum.
