Classical Choirs Collection by Miroslav Vitous Unveiled January 26, 2002
ILIO Entertainments is introducing "Classical Choirs," its newest collection of samples from classical musician and producer Miroslav Vitous. Classical Choirs, which marks Vitous' first release since his Symphonic Orchestra Samples library, features lush multi-sampled male and female choirs designed for large-scale choral settings.
A total of 16 men and 16 women were recorded separately and together as a mixed chorus at the Rudolfinum Dvorak Concert Hall in Prague, with additional recordings captured in a smaller setting nearby. Vitous enlisted the talents of world-class engineers using state-of-the-art microphones and converters to create clear, smooth and quiet recordings.
The men were recorded in three dynamics-ff, mf and mp-singing the long sustained open vowels (Ahs, and Ohs). Additionally there are Oos, Ehs and Ees, plus pianissimo and mezzo forte Brumendos (Mms), Oh Expressivos and Staccato Gohs.
The women contributed dynamic renderings of Ahs, Ohs and Oos plus pianissimo and mezzo forte Brumendos, Expressivo Ohs and Staccato Gohs. The mixed choir features Ahs, Ohs, Uhs and Brumendos, in a mixture of octaves and unisons.
Another feature unique to this library is the inclusion of multi-sampled syllables, sung in both Porto (short sustained) and Staccato articulations. These syllables are offered chromatically and include do, re, mi, fa, so, la, si, go and many more. In the Giga version, these are keyswitched to allow for fast and complex multi-syllabic passages, but in any platform this variety of utterances will provide an unprecedented reality when composing vocal performances.
Classical Choirs also features a wide variety of vocal effects, such as speech, murmuring, laughing and crying. Classical Choirs is available as follows:
- CD-ROM - $599 Multi-disc set for Akai (E-mu and Software Sampler compatible).
- CD-ROM - $799 Multi-disc set containing more samples and advanced programming features for Giga Native.
