PRESS RELEASE

Pro 500 Bass Head from Peavey

(Click for a close-up)
January 23, 2002

With the new Pro 500 Bass Head, Peavey brings 500 Watts of earth-rattling power, tube warmth, full tone-shaping capabilities and stage-friendly features to the modern bassist, at a price hundreds of dollars lower than the competition. Gone are the days of nurturing those yesteryear tube monsters to achieve the warm drive of tubes at high-stage volumes.

The Pro 500's warmth comes from a tube preamp feeding into a three-band parametric EQ, allowing the player to find specific frequencies to boost or cut. The extra effort required to dial in a happening tone with a parametric EQ is more than outweighed by tonal versatility it affords. After the EQ, the signal goes to a solid-state power section that delivers 500 Watts into two ohms.

When mated to a pair of Peavey's Pro 410 enclosures, one Pro 410 and one Pro 115, or a single 810 TVX, the Pro 500 head can hang with the loudest of drummers and guitarists; it's the ultimate stage weapon.

Peavey makes stage life easier with the Pro 500 by providing several features geared toward live performance. A dedicated, mutable tuner send keeps signal paths uncluttered, and the output can be muted via the footswitch for silent tuning between songs or sets.

The Pro 500 also features multiple inputs, including a rear-panel input for wireless use to keep cable clutter to a minimum. XLR output jacks allow for balanced connections to the house sound system. And, a pre-EQ signal can be sent to the mixer if desired through an extra line-out jack.
