PRESS RELEASE

New CY-12R/C V-Cymbal Ride/Crash from Roland

January 19, 2002

Roland has announced the CY-12R/C V-Cymbal Ride/Crash, a 12-inch electronic cymbal that offers breakthrough V-Cymbal technology at a remarkably affordable price. The dual-trigger CY-12R/C has all the expressiveness of an acoustic cymbal, with a natural rebound, inertia and swinging motion that will have drummers feeling right at home--it can even be choked like a traditional cymbal. This cymbal is perfect for use as a ride, crash or even a splash cymbal in a V-Drums system or other electronic drum set.

The CY-12R/C V-Cymbal Ride/Crash lets drummers express themselves naturally, thanks to a design that closely mirrors the shape, weight, and physical responsiveness of an acoustic cymbal. As a ride, crash or even a splash cymbal, the 12-inch CY-12R/C is an outstanding performer. Dual-triggering provides separate sounds on the edge/bow or bow/bell. Drummers can quickly grab it to "choke" its sound, just as they would an acoustic cymbal.

The CY-12R/C is especially potent when it's used with a V-Drums TD-10 module that's been expanded with the TDW-1 Wave and System Expansion Board. With this combo, the CY-12R/C offers three-way triggering--edge, bow and bell--and positional sensing that produces subtle sonic changes according to where it's struck, making it a great ride cymbal. (If a TD-10/TDW-1 system's three-way triggering is already being used by a CY-15R ride cymbal, three-way triggering is unavailable for the CY-12R/C.)

The CY-12R/C can be purchased to expand any V-Drums system, or for use with an HPD-15, SPD-20 or older TD-Series set. It also works with other manufacturers' electronic drum modules. No matter how the CY-12R/C is employed, it's a great way for users to quickly add fresh creative possibilities to an electronic percussion system.
