As part of a massive campaign in support of its 'Sonically Matched' cymbal sets program, SABIAN has introduced a consumer contest entitled 'The Ballad of Dog Man'. Supported with a P.O.P. ballot program and extensive consumer media advertising that features a human with ears named Dog Man, the contest states 'Subtleties Can Make You A Winner' and offers an extensive array of prizes including a Grand Prize consisting of:
- Trip for 2 to SABIAN -- 4 days and 3 nights visiting SABIAN in the village of Meductic, in eastern Canada
- Selection of 15 cymbals. Winner gets to choose their ideal 'Sonically Matched' cymbal setup with the assistance of a SABIAN master cymbal specialist
- $5,000.00 (U.S.) Band Gear Certificate redeemable at the music store where the winning ballot was provided
The contest invites participants to put music to 'The Ballad of Dog Man' lyrics provided on the ballot form, and submit a recording for judging by a panel of major players including Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stefanie Eulinberg of Kid Rock, Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo of Santana, Jose Pasillas of Incubus, and Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers..
Commented SABIAN vice president sales and marketing David Via: "The 'Ballad of Dog Man Contest' is in response to the tremendous feedback we received with the introduction of Dog Man to our 'Sonically Matched' advertising. With so much interest we felt it would be a good opportunity to mount a contest that offered something back to the music community. With the 'Ballad of Dog Man' contest the main prize benefits the drummer, the dealer who provided the winning ballot, and the winning drummer's band. It's an outstanding prize and a great opportunity for drummers and bands across North America."
Submissions are limited to one per drummer or percussionist. Entry ballots are available through SABIAN dealers or direct from SABIAN. The contest closes 03/29/02.
