PRESS RELEASE

LM4 MarkII Virtual Drum Machine from Steinberg

(Click for a close-up)
January 26, 2002

Steinberg has introduced the successor to the LM4 virtual drum machine for VST. LM4 MarkII offers intuitive handling and graphically supported drum kit creation. It was designed for ease-of-use without overwhelming the user with unnecessary parameters, which can hinder musical creativity. Samples can be placed on any one of the 18 pads in up to 20 velocity layers to create dynamic and lively drum kits by the simple drag and drop method.

The LM4 Mk II uses Steinberg's VST technology guaranteeing sample accurate timing, crucial in a drum or percussion track. The timing precision of LM4 MarkII can be 40 times "tighter" than external MIDI devices.

LM4 MarkII comes with a breathtaking sound library consisting of over 1 GB of 50 drum kits and sounds in first-rate audio quality -- 16-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit AIFF, WAV or SDII (Mac only) files. Within Cubase VST and Nuendo, the LM4 MarkII offers three stereo and six mono outputs. Every drum pad is polyphonic, allowing a very "natural" response. Sounds no longer cut themselves off -- no more "machine gun" effect with snare drum rolls, for example.

Almost all of the LM4 MarkII's parameters can be automated and saved with the song, including pitch and volume. The BitCrusher and Reverse functions revive those "old school" drum machine sounds and the ADSR envelope controls the "attack" of each drum sound.

LM4 MarkII can be loaded into the host application as many times as the performance of the computer system allows. Various drum kits can be easily combined with each other.

LM4 MarkII is available at dealers now at the suggested price of $149.99 MSRP.

LM4 MarkII is also available in an XXL Pack version, containing three additional CD ROMs with an additional 1 GB of 70 high quality drum kits for $199 MSRP.
