Syntrillium Software introduced Cool Edit Pro 2.0, the most significant upgrade to the digital editing/mixing software in its five-year history. Cool Edit Pro 2.0 offers PC users a range of useful new features such as real-time effects and track EQ, disk-at-once CD burning, MIDI and video playback support, MTC master generation, 6 new DSP effects, loop-based music composition, and a compressed loop file format.

"Our mission is to provide everyone from the studio professional to the audio hobbyist with an extremely affordable PC software package that allows them to easily record, edit, master, and mix down their own material into a final project," explained Bob Ellison, President of Syntrillium. "Cool Edit Pro 2.0 does exactly that, exceeding the capabilities of systems costing far more."

Topping Cool Edit Pro 2.0's list of new features is real-time effects and EQ. This allows users to add any of the more than 40 supplied DSP or any third-party DirectX effects as well as EQ on the fly, as opposed to applying the settings once the recording process is complete.

Disk at once (DAO) CD burning capabilities are standard on Cool Edit Pro 2.0 as well. DAO recording allows all the tracks for a disk to be written at one time instead of individually, eliminating the requirement for silent gaps between tracks. Syntrillium has also incorporated limited MIDI and video support, MTC "master" generation and loop-based music composition, and a compressed loop file format into Cool Edit Pro 2.0, offering an extraordinary level of features and functionality at a price point that makes it accessible to users on virtually any sized budget.
