Tama unveiled a very limited edition Starclassic 7 pc kit at the Winter 2002 NAMM Show. Instead of Starclassic's famous maple shells, the kits will feature shells with an outer ply of very rare Hawaiian Koa and 8 plies of Bubinga.
For the crowning visual touch, each drum features a real abalone inlay in the center of the shell and the front bass drum features a goatskin head with a special Star logo.
"The sound of these exotic wood drums is deep, very sharp, and they've got superb sustain," remarked Koji Kamada of Tama. With less than 40 sets of these very beautiful sets available worldwide, these are really unique kits."
