TASCAM has announced the addition of the MF-P01 4-track cassette multitrack to their popular Portastudio product line. With an affordable price point and an easy to use interface, the MF-P01 ($125.00 MSRP USD) is the simplest and most affordable version to date of their popular cassette based multitrack recorders.
"The MF-P01 is the perfect tool for those users who have little or no previous recording experience but want capture their creative ideas without getting tangled in technology," says John Bastianelli, TASCAM product development manager. "This unit is so easy to use that no formal training is required and even the most inexperienced user can be recording in a matter of minutes."
The MF-P01's easy-to-use recording approach is based on the unit's single Mic/Line input and no buss requirement. To make new songs, users simply select the track on which they wish to record by pushing a single button and then adjusting the input level. A 4-dot LED meter allows users to easily identify input signal levels and overloads.
During playback, the four-channel mixer section allows users to mix down their songs by simply adjusting each track's output level. For monitoring recordings the unit comes complete with both a 1/4" headphone output and an RCA L/R line output. Its small 12"x8" footprint and lightweight design (a mere 2.5lbs.) means the MF-P01 easily fits into a daypack for carrying to and from music lessons, jam sessions or band practice.
