Guitar Songs CD-ROM Version 2.0 from eMedia
January 24, 2002
eMedia Music Corporation announced a major upgrade to its Guitar Songs CD-ROM.
Guitar Songs version 2.0 teaches the guitar and bass parts for 21 hit songs made famous by guitar legends such as Eric Clapton, and marks the first time these songs are available in an easy-to-learn, multi-track format. The student can now listen to separate tracks from the CD-quality sound recordings: guitar-only, band and vocals with no guitar, bass-only, no-bass, and rhythm-only.
eMedia Guitar Songs version 2.0 makes learning even easier with new variable-speed MIDI tracks, which allow students to slow down the music as needed and gradually speed up as they learn. The music comes to life with a new animated fretboard that shows fingerings synchronized in real-time to the music tracks, displaying even sophisticated techniques like bends, vibrato and slides as they are played. A revised "song looping" feature makes it easy to highlight and repeat complicated sections of any song.
In addition to the animated fretboard, music tracking highlights notation and lyrics as songs play. Songs include vocals supported by full instrumentation, in addition to the option to display guitar song music in either standard music notation or guitar tablature.
Celebrity performances on Guitar Songs include Peter Frampton playing "Baby I Love Your Way" and Roger Fisher, former guitarist of Heart, playing a special version of "Magic Man" just for the CD-ROM. Classic songs from all major genres (rock, blues, country, classical and folk) are represented, including hits made famous by Eric Clapton ("Before You Accuse Me"), Melissa Etheridge ("I'm the Only One"), Willie Nelson ("On the Road Again"), Bonnie Raitt ("I Can't Make You Love Me"), Santana ("Oye Como Va"), Stevie Ray Vaughan ("The Sky Is Crying"), The Who ("Behind Blue Eyes"), as well as other songs made famous by Ray Charles, Jim Croce, Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, and the Talking Heads.
Guitar Songs comes with several built-in accessories: an automatic tuner (complete with custom tunings as needed), a recorder (also for use with the computer's microphone), and a digital metronome. Complete artist biographies and photographs round out the learning experience.
Guitar Songs version 2.0 is now a dual Windows/Macintosh platform CD-ROM, and has an estimated retail price of $29.95. The disk will be available at computer and music retail stores nationwide starting in January, 2002.
