Three New Models Added to Alvarez's Masterworks Series

Alvarez Guitars has announced the addition of the MJ80 and MJ80-12 jumbo-sized guitars, and the MF80C folk-sized guitar with rounded cutaway to the Alvarez Masterworks series.

The Alvarez MJ80 ($849.00 list) jumbo-sized six-string guitar, features a body constructed using a solid spruce top matched to solid mahogany sides and back. The mahogany neck utilizes a modern slim profile with the rosewood fingerboard inlaid with green abalone shell at the 12th fret position. The body is bound with a subtly contrasting natural maple binding with rosewood bridge and green abalone inlaid around the soundhole rosette and finished in a natural gloss.

The Alvarez MJ80-12 ($899.00 list) jumbo-sized twelve string guitar, features a body constructed using a solid spruce top matched to solid mahogany sides and back. The mahogany neck utilizes a modern slim profile with the rosewood fingerboard inlaid with green abalone shell at the 12th fret position.. The body is bound with a subtly contrasting natural maple binding with rosewood bridge and green abalone inlaid around the soundhole rosette and finished in a natural gloss.

The Alvarez MF80C ($999.00 list) folk-sized guitar with rounded cutaway, features a body constructed using a solid spruce top matched to solid mahogany sides and back. The rounded cutaway allows the player easy access to the upper reaches of the fretboard, a feature useful for lead work. The mahogany neck utilizes a modern slim profile with the rosewood fingerboard inlaid with green abalone shell at the 12th fret position. The body is bound with a subtly contrasting natural maple binding with a rosewood bridge and green abalone inlaid around the soundhole rosette and finished in a natural gloss.

The jumbo bodies of the MJ80 and MJ80-12 really open up tonally when played with an aggressive rhythm style characterized by a deep resonate bass, a well-rounded treble range with plenty of chime, sustain and volume.

The folk style body of the MF80C responds well to a lighter touch, with a balanced bass and treble response. The smaller body is particularly suited to fingerpicking styles and onstage situations where feedback can be a problem.
