Roland announced the VS-1824CD 24-bit Digital Studio Workstation at the Winter NAMM show. Based on the popular Roland VS-1880, the VS-1824CD is a complete tabletop recording studio with 288 Virtual Tracks, 28-channel automated digital mixing and onboard effects–including COSM Guitar Amp and Microphone Modeling, plus a Mastering Tool Kit. And notably, the VS-1824CD model is the first portable V-Studio to offer a built-in high-speed CD-R/RW drive for easy data backup and creation of audio CDs.

The VS-1824CD contains all of the features VS-1880 users have come to know and love–and more–at an ultra-affordable price. Users can record as many as eight tracks at once or play back up to 18 tracks at a time, selected from the 288 Virtual Tracks available in each song. Virtual Tracks are a great place to store alternate takes or solos, and to keep the individual sections of a perfect "comped" vocal performance. The VS-1824's built-in automated mixing is the key to professional mixes, while its scenes can store mixer setups for instantaneous recall.

The VS-1824CD comes standard with a 10GB hard drive specially selected for its ability to deliver trouble-free recording and providing ample space for an album's worth of songs. With the VS-1824CD's built-in CD-R/RW drive, an entire V-Studio system comes in a single portable package. Besides burning audio CDs and backing up project data, the CD-R/RW drive lets users import professionally recorded drum loops and other audio directly from CDs, allowing for fast song construction.

The VS-1824CD ships from the factory with a high-quality stereo effects processor onboard. Reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, dynamics processing, EQ, Voice Transformer, COSM Guitar Amp Modeling and more are all available, straight out of the box. Roland's COSM Mic modeling can make affordable mics–including the AKG C3000B–sound like some of the most expensive studio mics in the world. An optional VS8F-2 Effects Expansion Board adds even more power to the VS-1824CD, for a total of four stereo or eight mono effects.
