Fast Crashes Added to Zildjian's A. Custom Line

January 17, 2002

Cymbal- and stick-maker Zildjian has announced the introduction of several new models to their highly successful A. Custom in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the original launch of this range. These new models include the innovative new A Custom Fast Crash cymbals available in 14", 15", 16", 17", and 18" sizes.

The all-new A Custom Fast Crashes provide a bright, responsive crash sound with a short decay. These cymbals are specifically designed to offer a quick response with a melodic character and high pitch. The Fast Crash is slightly thinner than the existing A Custom Crash, but it is just as musical, if not more! The A. Custom Fast Crashes also feature new profiles and brand new cup shapes that contribute to their characteristic new sound. Like all A Custom cymbals they feature Zildjian's stunning Brilliant Finish.

"Without any effort, these new Fast Crashes open and blossom into a high pitched, smooth crash sound with an extremely short decay", said Gregg Stein, Zildjian's Marketing Communications Manager. "They are bright, airy, and lively. They feel great, they look great and they sound unbelievable. The Zildjian Sound Lab has done it again!" he continued.

Drumming legend Vinnie Colaiuta recently commented, "These new Fast Crashes are even more refined and controlled which is perfect for the studio setting. They are transparent and light, They really complete the A Custom set-up."

Colaiuta, who spearheaded the design and development of the original A Custom range, also lent his unique insight and experience to the development of the new Fast Crashes. The Award-winning A Custom cymbal range utilizes radical rotary hammering techniques, thin weights and a striking brilliant finish for a crisp, sweet, sophisticated A Zildjian sound. Not too dark, not too bright – cymbals that are just right for modern music.

Pricing starts with a list price of $212 for the 14" model, up to $302 for the 18".
